Manual driving lessons

Manual or Automatic?

Manual cars have a clutch, brake and accelerator. You are responsible for changing gears yourself using the clutch pedal and gear-stick. Automatic cars only have a brake and accelerator.

If you want to guarantee that you can drive any car on the market (manual or automatic) then you’ll need to learn how to drive a manual; passing your test in a manual car licenses you to drive both manual and automatic cars. If you can, it’s a great thing to do as you’ll learn all about the gears and how they can help you control the car, it’s speed and your safety.

Learning to drive in a manual car is undoubtedly more beneficial. This is why I teach all of my pupils to drive in a manual transmission car.

I passed my driving test with Karen with only 3 faults. She was always extremely professional, patient and I couldn't have asked for a better instructor.
